Morocco is ranked seventh in FIFA’s world rankings released on October 7, maintaining its status as Africa’s top national team. The Atlas Lions increased their points total to 1,805.34 after securing two victories in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and drawing in a friendly match.
Despite these results, Morocco fell one position in the rankings due to Portugal’s rise to fifth place, moving ahead of Brazil, which is now in sixth. Senegal remains Africa’s second-highest-ranked team at 18th globally, while Egypt dropped one spot to 25th.
Spain leads the world rankings, followed closely by Argentina, France, and England. The October rankings reflect performance over 338 international matches played since July 19, including Nations League fixtures, CONCACAF competitions, and AFCON qualifiers.
Additionally, Africa has ten teams in the top 50, with Mali and South Africa each climbing six places to 47th and 48th, respectively. Europe’s representation stands at 24 teams, while South America has eight, and both Asia and CONCACAF feature four teams each.
