Delaware residents can now benefit from the new Future Scholars Tax Credit (FSTC), which allows them to receive a tax credit of up to $1,700 off their 2027 taxes. This credit is available for donations made to recognized Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs), which provide financial assistance for educational needs of students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The funds from these donations can be used for a variety of purposes, including tuition, after-school activities, tutoring, special needs resources, and educational supplies or technology. Bishop William E. Koenig of the Diocese of Wilmington emphasized the importance of this program for families seeking assistance with educational expenses.
To maximize access to this funding, states must opt-in by December 31. It is crucial for residents to ensure their states participate in this initiative to secure financial support for all students. For additional information on the tax credit, residents can visit the websites of the Diocese of Wilmington or related state education platforms.
