New connectivity, storage and acceleration solutions help address performance, security and scalability challenges across modern computing architectures
CHANDLER, Ariz., Oct. 12, 2026 — Microchip Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MCHP) has announced an expansion of its data center solutions portfolio to meet the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. The new offerings focus on enhancing PCIe® connectivity, NVMe® storage, and acceleration technologies designed for high-performance computing infrastructures.
Brian McCarson, corporate vice president and general manager of Microchip’s data center solutions business unit, emphasized the need for technology that simplifies design and accelerates deployment. “Customers are looking for technology partners that can address multiple challenges across the infrastructure stack,” he said. “By continuing to expand our portfolio, we’re providing the building blocks needed to create more efficient, secure, and adaptable platforms for today’s increasingly distributed and data-intensive computing environments.”
One highlight of the expansion is the Switchtec™ PCIe 6.0 Low-Lane-Count (LLC) switch, which supports up to 64 PCIe Gen 6 lanes and offers flexible bifurcation options. This solution aims to improve peer-to-peer data movement and reduce host CPU involvement, making it suitable for space- and power-constrained environments.
To enhance secure and scalable storage infrastructure, Microchip has also unveiled an updated version of its Flashtec PCIe Gen 5 NVMe 5016 controller. This update includes support for the Commercial National Security Algorithm Suite (CNSA) 2.0, preparing customers for emerging post-quantum security needs. Additionally, the dual-port capability offers improved data availability and load balancing.
Microchip is also upgrading its SmartRAID 4300 family of NVMe RAID storage accelerators to further address operational needs. Enhancements include self-encrypting drives with key management options, RAID 6 and RAID 60 configurations for security, and compatibility with various operating systems, including Linux and Windows 11.
These updates reflect Microchip’s commitment to providing advanced performance, availability, and security in next-generation computing platforms. For more information on their full range of data center solutions, visit the Microchip Technology website.
