The African Collaborations Group (ACG) has appointed NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber (AEC), to its Advisory Board. This development aims to enhance the industrialisation of sport and entertainment districts across Africa.
ACG, which focuses on the creation of bankable ecosystems for sport and entertainment in Africa, made the announcement on Wednesday. In his role with ACG, Ayuk will lend his extensive experience in the energy sector to guide projects that integrate financial sustainability and developmental goals.
Under Ayuk’s leadership, the AEC has established itself as a key player in the African energy landscape, serving as a platform for stakeholders including energy companies, public authorities, and investors. He is recognized for his contributions to discussions on African energy policy, particularly in promoting investment in oil and gas as an economic catalyst for the continent.
Ayuk has authored several influential works on this subject, including “Big Barrels: African Oil and Gas and the Quest for Prosperity” and “A Just Transition: Making Energy Poverty History with an Energy Mix.” His advocacy for the industrialisation of energy sectors on Africa’s terms aligns with ACG’s mission in the sport and entertainment arenas.
“NJ Ayuk brings to our Advisory Board a genuine strategic alignment. For years, he has led the case for the industrialisation of Africa’s energy sector on Africa’s terms — a doctrine that maps directly onto what ACG is now applying to the sport and entertainment sector,” said Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, Founder and Executive Chairman of ACG. “His presence on our Advisory Board strengthens ACG’s capacity to originate and deliver projects that fit within a coherent, continent-wide industrialisation logic.”
The ACG Advisory Board plays a critical role in guiding large-scale sport and entertainment district projects across Africa. These projects aim to align various stakeholders, including governments, development finance institutions, and sports bodies, to foster the development of sustainable, mixed-use ecosystems.
Despite a projected growth in Africa’s sport economy to $20 billion by 2035, the continent faces challenges in creating the integrated districts necessary for large-scale development. ACG aims to bridge this gap by promoting comprehensive development models that extend beyond individual venues to create viable, revenue-generating ecosystems.
Through collaborations with diverse stakeholders ranging from public authorities and private investors to academic institutions, ACG seeks to transform innovative ideas into feasible projects that can be executed across the continent.
