Lucas Raymond scored twice and provided an assist as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Thursday night, marking Vancouver’s ninth consecutive loss this season.
The Red Wings exploded in the opening minutes, scoring three goals within the first nine minutes of play. Alongside Raymond, William Wallinder, Michael Rasmussen, and Emmitt Finnie contributed to the score sheet, with Victor Arvidsson and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard each notching two assists.
In the Detroit goal, starting goalie John Gibson stopped four of the five shots he faced before exiting the game due to an upper-body injury. Michal Postava came in to make his NHL debut in the third period, successfully stopping all seven shots he encountered.
For the Canucks, Jonathan Lekkerimaki delivered a goal and an assist, while Elias Pettersson managed to score his fourth goal of the season on a power play in the first period. However, Vancouver goalie Kevin Lankinen struggled early, conceding three goals quickly and finishing the game with 26 saves.
Following the loss, the Red Wings will face the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, while the Canucks will host the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, welcoming back former captain Quinn Hughes.
