The Dominican Republic’s Directorate General of Games of Chance (DGJA) has announced a 30-day period for owners and operators of gaming establishments to declare businesses that were not registered under the initial Regularization Plan. This initiative, outlined in Resolution No. 02-2026, allows for a voluntary disclosure period aimed at formalizing previously unregulated gambling operations and enhancing market transparency.
According to the DGJA, the new measure is intended to clean up the local gaming market. It allows gambling establishments to regularize their tax and operational status with reduced risk of severe penalties or immediate closure. This special opportunity is designed to encourage compliance among operators.
Operators wishing to register can do so through an online platform established by the authorities or in-person at the National Lottery headquarters located in Santo Domingo. The DGJA has urged affected businesses to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their declarations before the deadline of this extraordinary period, which will not be extended.
This initiative is part of the Dominican government’s broader strategy, which includes cooperation with National Lottery General Administrator Teófilo “Quico” Tabar, to reorganize the betting industry. The aim is not only to sanction establishments that fail to comply with regulatory requirements but also to combat the evasion of government fees.
As the deadline approaches, the DGJA remains committed to ensuring a more enforceable gambling environment across the country.
