Kencoft Mayor Calls for Community Support to Rehabilitate Access Roads
The Mayor of Kenscoff, Massillon Jean, has issued a call to action for residents and local organizations to aid in the rehabilitation of key access roads in the area. The appeal follows significant difficulties affecting transportation routes that are essential for daily activities and the gradual return to normalcy for residents.
During a recent announcement, Mayor Jean emphasized the importance of community involvement, inviting individuals to contribute resources according to their capabilities. Specifically, the municipal administration is seeking donations of equipment such as shovels, pickaxes, wheelbarrows, crowbars, rakes, and other tools necessary for the road repair efforts.
The appeal extends to various groups, including farmers, truck drivers, contractors, business owners, community-based organizations, young residents, local authorities, and citizens from all parts of Kenscoff. The mayor stated, “Every shovel counts; every pickaxe counts; every truck counts; every half-day of work counts; every contribution counts.”
Truck drivers in Kenscoff and the surrounding regions are specifically asked to allocate at least half a day for hauling fill material, which is vital for restoring priority roads. Additionally, community-based organizations are encouraged to engage their members in these repair efforts.
Local leaders, including members of CASEC, ASEC, city delegates, and other community figures, are also called to collaborate in identifying and addressing urgent needs in their respective areas. This community initiative is part of a larger effort to ensure that security forces can operate effectively and to support the return of families who have been displaced due to violence.
Mayor Jean concluded his remarks with a message of unity, stating, “We must work together to ensure that areas occupied by armed groups can be liberated, that access routes are restored, and that displaced families can—once security conditions allow—return to their homes, their land, and their community.”
Why It Matters
This community mobilization effort underscores the significance of local solidarity in addressing infrastructure challenges during difficult times. Restoring access routes is crucial for resuming everyday life and supporting displaced populations in returning to their homes, thereby contributing to overall stability in Kenscoff.
