RAPID CITY, S.D. – In a closely contested match, the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers defeated the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers 3-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play, mirroring last week’s encounter between the two teams.
The Hardrockers (5-1-2, 1-0-0 RMAC) capitalized on their home advantage, maintaining a slight lead in shots at 12 compared to the Orediggers’ 9. South Dakota Mines established an early lead, with Julen Arteaga scoring in the 23rd minute and Lucas Miranda adding another goal in the 32nd minute. The Orediggers responded shortly after, with freshman Mason Robledo netting his first collegiate goal in the 36th minute. However, Zach Peroff increased the Hardrockers’ lead just before halftime with a goal in the 42nd minute, assisted by Shon West.
The second half saw the Orediggers (0-7-2, 0-1-0 RMAC) come out with renewed energy, quickly cutting the deficit with a goal from Avi Levin just 1:13 into the period.
