The Dominican Republic (DR) is set to adopt Azerbaijan’s ASAN Service model, a move aimed at enhancing its public service delivery.
Details of the Implementation
A delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations, is currently visiting Santo Domingo. During this visit, they met with the DR’s Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Jose Ignacio Paliza, who expressed interest in strengthening ties between the two nations.
The discussions highlighted the potential benefits of sharing the ASAN Service model, which is designed to streamline public services and improve service delivery. Additionally, the delegation engaged in talks with Sigmund Freund, the DR’s Minister of Public Administration, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed.
This memorandum focuses on implementing the ASAN Service model within the Dominican Republic. It includes provisions for organizing training sessions for Dominican civil servants, which will be led by specialists from the Azerbaijani State Agency. The agreement also aims to establish relevant standards for the implementation of the model.
The signing of this MoU marks a significant development, as it represents the first agreement to be concluded with a Caribbean nation in the context of promoting the ASAN Service model on an international scale. With this agreement, the Dominican Republic becomes the 53rd country to adopt the model, expanding its reach beyond Azerbaijan’s borders.
The ASAN Service model is recognized for its innovative approach to public administration, focusing on efficiency, transparency, and citizen engagement. The Dominican Republic’s decision to implement this system is seen as a proactive step toward improving public sector capabilities and fostering better governance.
Why It Matters
The adoption of the ASAN Service model by the Dominican Republic signifies an important milestone in the country’s administrative reform efforts. By enhancing public service delivery through this established framework, the Dominican Republic aims to foster greater accountability and responsiveness in its governance, which is essential for meeting the needs of its citizens and improving overall public trust in government institutions.
