On October 4, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) hosted an award ceremony at the Main Media Centre to honor the Most Valuable Players (MVPs) of the Asian Games. The prestigious MVP titles were awarded to BOONSON Puripol from Thailand and YU Zidi from the People’s Republic of China.
BOONSON Puripol delivered an exceptional performance in athletics, making a significant mark on the Games. He set a new record in the men’s 100m semifinals with a time of 9.91 seconds, which he improved to 9.90 seconds in the final, earning him the gold medal. He continued his impressive streak in the men’s 200m, advancing from the semifinals with a record time of 20.10 seconds before winning gold in the final with a time of 19.88 seconds, which equaled the Asian record.
YU Zidi also made headlines with her outstanding achievements in swimming. She won the women’s 200m butterfly with a new Games record, clocking in at 2:05.08. YU then established a new Asian record in the women’s 200m individual medley with a time of 2:06.10, before claiming another gold medal in the women’s 400m individual medley, setting a Games record of 4:28.56. At just 13 years old, she became the youngest MVP in the history of the Games.
The performances of both athletes were pivotal in their respective sports, showcasing remarkable talent and breaking multiple records throughout the competition.
