FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 9, 2026) – The U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team secured a dominant 5-0 victory over the Dominican Republic Women’s National Team in an international friendly held at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center.
The two teams are scheduled to face each other again on October 13 at noon ET in the same venue.
The U.S. team, composed entirely of National Women’s Soccer League players, outshot their opponents by a significant margin, finishing with 20 shots compared to just 2 for the Dominican Republic. The U.S. scored twice in the first half and added three more goals in the second half.
Mia Fishel, a forward for Seattle Reign FC, opened the scoring in the 13th minute and netted her second goal just before halftime, making it 2-0 in first-half stoppage time. Ally Sentnor, who serves as captain and plays for Angel City FC, scored in the 51st minute, while Gia Corley of San Diego Wave FC extended the lead to 4-0 in the 56th minute. Karlie Lema from Bay FC capped the scoring with a goal in the 83rd minute.
U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Emma Hayes has indicated that players eligible for the U-23 roster may also play for the senior team, and this match featured several players with experience at the national level. Among those, Sentnor has 23 caps and seven goals for the U.S. senior team, while Fishel has three caps and one goal.
Sentnor’s goal in this match marked her third for the U-23 side, while Fishel, Corley, and Lema all recorded their first U-23 goals. Sentnor has a history of scoring for various levels of USA’s Women’s and Girls’ National Teams, having tallied goals at the U-15, U-16, U-17, U-18, U-20, U-23, and senior levels.
The roster included several “overage” players, defined as those born prior to January 1, 2003. This year’s overage players are Angelina Anderson (goalkeeper, born in 2001), Corley, Jameese Joseph, and Fishel (both born in 2002).
This match also marked the return of Savy King, who had previously participated in the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. King had been sidelined after a cardiac event in May 2025 that required surgery for a heart abnormality. She returned to play for Angel City FC earlier this NWSL season, appearing in four matches before a foot injury limited her participation.
