U17 Grenadiers Prepare for Qatar 2026 World Cup
The U17 men’s national team of Haiti has ramped up its preparations for the 2026 World Cup in Qatar, with the latest phase of training taking place in Ouanaminthe. Under the guidance of coach Kowsky Sainvil, the team engaged in three friendly matches against higher-level opponents.
In their opening match, the Grenadiers faced Ouanaminthe FC but suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat. However, they rebounded with a 1-1 draw against Real Hope, aided by the return of several players who had previously participated in training camps in Jamaica. The team then secured a convincing 4-2 victory over Trou du Nord.
During this training phase, Sainvil noted that seven players based abroad, including those from the United States and Canada, participated in the matches. Decisions regarding their inclusion in the final roster will be made ahead of the next phase set to take place in Brazil.
In Brazil, the U17 Grenadiers are expected to engage in more high-level friendly matches. These games will be pivotal as Sainvil aims to finalize the list of 21 players who will represent Haiti during the tournament in Qatar from November 19 to December 13, 2026.
Haiti’s group stage matches, following the draw held on May 21, 2026, will see them compete against France, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay in Group D.
