Phillips, in collaboration with Bacs & Russo, will emphasize independent watchmaking at The Hong Kong Watch Auction: XXIII, scheduled for November 21-22, 2026. The event will showcase a selection of rare timepieces, highlighting contributions from notable independent watchmakers such as F.P. Journe, Kari Voutilainen, Beat Haldimann, Théo Auffret, and Kiu Tai Yu.
The auction’s standout piece is the F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance “Parking Meter” Mark Cho Special, one of only five ever made. This unique timepiece, featured in the personal collection of The Armoury co-founder Mark Cho, has an estimated value between 6 million and 12 million HKD (approximately 769,000 to 1.54 million USD). The 38mm platinum watch boasts a navy-and-warm-toned dial personally chosen by Cho.
F.P. Journe continues to lead the auction with several high-value items. Among them is the circa-2001 Tourbillon Souverain No. 069, featuring a platinum case combined with a rare shiny yellow-gold dial. Only nine examples of this specific configuration have been documented. It is part of the early brass-movement Tourbillon Souverain models and is estimated between 3.9 million and 11.6 million HKD (500,000 to 1.49 million USD).
Additional pieces from Journe include the Centigraphe Souverain Anniversaire Hong Kong Boutique Edition, number 10 of only 20 produced in 2016, with an estimate ranging from 2.4 million to 4.8 million HKD (308,000 to 615,000 USD). Additionally, the auction will feature the first produced example of the Octa Calendrier Ruthenium, numbered 01 of 99, with an estimated value exceeding 1.6 million HKD (205,000 USD).
The auction will also display a variety of contemporary independent timepieces. A titanium Kari Voutilainen Vingt-8 with a hand-guilloché blue enamel dial is estimated between 1.5 million and 2.5 million HKD (192,000 to 321,000 USD). Meanwhile, Beat Haldimann’s platinum H1 Flying Central Tourbillon “The PuristS Edition” Series 2 carries a value estimate of 1 million to 2 million HKD (128,000 to 256,000 USD). The auction further includes Théo Auffret’s Tourbillon à Paris Subscription No. 18, the first of its kind to be offered at auction, and Kiu Tai Yu’s limited-edition white-gold HK 2000.
The public preview for The Hong Kong Watch Auction: XXIII will run from November 16 to 22 at Phillips’ WKCDA Tower location in West Kowloon. Selected highlights will also tour major cities, including Hong Kong, Taipei, Geneva, and Singapore prior to the auction.
