Wide receiver Mecole Hardman has signed with the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday. Hardman, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, recently parted ways with the Buffalo Bills after being released during roster cuts in August. He played only two games with the Bills last season, handling two punts and one kickoff.
Hardman’s signing with the Colts comes amid ongoing discussions in the NFL regarding potential receiver trades. While there has been speculation about a possible reunion with Tyreek Hill in Kansas City, the team has also added Justin Watson to its practice squad. Watson recently played in the Chiefs’ victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, logging one offensive snap and three on special teams.
The Colts also bolstered their roster by signing veteran punter Thomas Morstead. This move follows an injury to starter Rigoberto Sanchez, who suffered a foot injury during a game against the Tennessee Titans.
In related news, the Chiefs continue to analyze their offensive strategies as the season progresses. Their performance in rushing plays inside the five-yard line has raised concerns, with the team achieving a touchdown on only two of eleven such attempts. This statistic points to a 18.2% success rate, which ranks among the lowest in the league.
Following their Week 6 win against the Chargers, players such as Noah Gray have stepped up in critical roles. Gray notably matched tight end Travis Kelce’s production by recording 53 receiving yards, showcasing his potential as a reliable target.
Looking ahead, the Chiefs are set to face the Seattle Seahawks in an upcoming Sunday Night Football matchup. There are indications that their following game against the Denver Broncos is unlikely to be flexed to prime time, as NFL rules dictate that at least one game in a home-and-home divisional rivalry must air on a Sunday afternoon.
