IOWA CITY, Iowa — Kade Pieper, an offensive lineman for the University of Iowa, has been recognized as a member of The Sporting News’ midseason All-America team. Pieper, a fourth-year guard from Norfolk, Nebraska, has played a crucial role for the Hawkeyes, starting 19 consecutive games since the beginning of last season.
In addition to this honor, Pieper has also been selected for the Associated Press’s midseason All-America first team and is included on the Lombardi Award midseason watch list. His performances have contributed to Iowa’s offensive line receiving a spot on the Joe Moore Award midseason honor roll.
The Hawkeyes have demonstrated a strong rushing attack this season, amassing over 200 yards in three different games. Notably, they achieved a remarkable 422 rushing yards against Northern Iowa in their second game, marking the seventh-most in a single game in the program’s history. This effort also enabled Iowa to produce three rushers with at least 100 yards, a feat not accomplished since 1983.
Currently, Iowa is averaging 194 rushing yards and 403.2 total yards per game, while the offensive line has surrendered only five sacks in the first half of the season.
No. 15 Iowa (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) is set to face Minnesota (4-2, 2-1) this Saturday in a matchup for the Floyd of Rosedale trophy.
