Miches, a coastal destination on the northeastern shore of the Dominican Republic, is rapidly emerging as a prime location for resort development. With the debut of multiple resorts from well-known brands, including the first Four Seasons scheduled to open in mid-2027, the area is shifting from a hidden gem to a sought-after vacation spot.
Among the noteworthy attractions in Miches are the adults-only Secrets Playa Esmeralda and Dreams Playa Esmeralda, which opened in August and September of 2025, respectively. Each resort features 500 accommodations tailored for different guest needs; Secrets focuses on adult travelers, while Dreams provides family-friendly amenities, including a waterpark and clubs for children and teens.
The setting itself draws guests, with picturesque beaches like Playa Esmeralda, lush mountain backdrops, and a coastal environment that remains relatively untouched. Miches is situated approximately 90 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport, allowing for easy access while offering a distinct landscape than the more frequented resort regions nearby.
In addition to the new Secrets and Dreams resorts, Hilton has enhanced the area’s appeal with the Zemi Miches Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort, part of its Curio Collection. This resort has recently added 16 oceanfront bungalows featuring private plunge pools and direct beach access, further diversifying the accommodation options available.
The establishment of Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda in November 2019 marked the beginning of this transformation. Its unique village concept offered a blend of environments for various vacation styles. Other notable additions include Viva Miches by Wyndham and Marriott Miches Beach, both of which continue to build on Miches’ reputation as a diverse resort destination.
Looking ahead, the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia will introduce a new upscale option to Miches, featuring 95 rooms, multiple dining venues, pools, and wellness experiences. This marks a significant milestone for the destination as it expands beyond all-inclusive offerings.
