The Lab Press has launched a new line of Portable Editions, featuring a selection of its popular graphic novels. These compact formats are designed for readers looking to enjoy quality storytelling while on the go. The first three titles available in this format include Super Science Volume 1 by N. Alessandro K. and M.K. Perker, Creatures & Corridors by Brandon Auman and Andrea Mutti, and Essentials Volume 1 by Luke Arnold and Chris ‘Doc’ Wyatt, along with contributions from various artists.
These titles have received recognition in the graphic novel community, earning accolades such as the IPPY Awards, Storytrade Awards, Foreword INDIES Awards, and honors from the Independent Book Publishers Association.
Super Science Volume 1 centers on a globe where the sky has turned amethyst due to a mysterious catalyst. This event sparks unprecedented breakthroughs among scientists and amateurs alike, leading to extraordinary inventions. The narrative follows Sergeant Esmerelda Villanueva and her rookie partner Jack Mantle as they navigate incidents involving rogue technology and unstable experiments. As the story unfolds, the line between innovation and danger blurs, creating a chaotic but evolving landscape.
N. Alessandro K., the creator and writer of Super Science Volume 1, noted that the release of this Portable Edition comes at an ideal time ahead of the anticipated Super Science Volume 2, set to debut in early 2027. “To sit and read a book has somehow become a radical act,” K. remarked, emphasizing the pace of scientific advancement in relation to personal responsibility.
Dagen Walker, Editor-in-Chief at The Lab Press, stated that while the company is committed to producing high-quality hardcover editions, the new Portable Editions allow readers to carry complete stories in a more convenient size. “Same full stories, same art, but in a size you can put in your bag and read on the train,” Walker said.
The first wave of Portable Editions is now available in bookstores and comic shops, with additional titles expected to be released next year. Fans are encouraged to explore these new offerings from The Lab Press.
