TEHRAN – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia will be rescheduled to December 23, 2027, through January 21, 2028. The tournament was originally set to take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027.
This decision follows extensive discussions with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF). The AFC cited “exceptional circumstances” related to significant logistical issues and travel disruptions in the region as the primary reasons for the change.
According to the AFC, the adjustment in scheduling aims to ensure the well-being of all participating teams, officials, fans, and other stakeholders involved in the tournament. The new dates will be submitted to FIFA for approval.
The AFC expressed appreciation for the dedication of the SAFF and the LOC in their efforts to organize a world-class event. The confederation emphasized its commitment to collaborating with various stakeholders, including participating member associations, sponsors, and broadcast partners, to deliver a tournament that meets the prestigious standards of Asia’s premier men’s national team competition.
Further updates and information regarding the tournament will be shared through the AFC’s official communication channels.
