Boston University is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth & Environment, with a focus on Climate Data Science. The successful candidate will begin their appointment on July 1, 2027, as part of a broader initiative to enhance Environmental Data Science at the university.

The new faculty member is expected to play a vital part in reinforcing the department’s existing strengths in climate-related research and teaching, including topics such as biogeosciences, coastal processes, paleoclimatology, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, the position will involve collaborating with university-wide interdisciplinary programs, such as the Urban Biogeoscience and Environmental Health (URBAN) initiative and the Center for Climate and Health at the School of Public Health.
Candidates must possess a PhD or equivalent degree and demonstrate a capacity to secure external funding for their research. The role includes supervising graduate students in PhD programs and teaching across all levels of the Earth & Environment curriculum. The anticipated salary for this position ranges from $115,000 to $130,000.
