Casa Carrillo is expanding its Pledge Purple line with the introduction of a new robusto size, set to begin shipping to retailers next week. This addition follows the brand’s earlier release of the Pledge Purple Toro and aims to offer more options for cigar enthusiasts.
The Pledge Purple Robusto measures 5 1/4 inches in length with a 52 ring gauge. It features a Havana-seed Connecticut wrapper that is nearly ten years old, sourced from Dunn & Foster, a tobacco grower in Connecticut. Casa Carrillo highlighted that this wrapper comes from the same exceptional crop used in the initial run of Pledge cigars released in 2020. The robusto also incorporates a Mexican binder and a blend of Nicaraguan filler leaves from Estelí, Condega, and Ometepe.
The Pledge Purple line, launched earlier this year, was created as a commemorative series to honor the Pledge Prequel, which was named Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year for 2020, achieving a remarkable score of 98 points. With the addition of the robusto size, there are now two available options: Toro and Robusto.
The suggested retail price for the new Robusto size is set at $16.50 per cigar, and it will be packaged in boxes containing ten cigars. Both sizes will be produced in limited quantities throughout the year at the Casa Carrillo factory located in the Dominican Republic.
