Haiti Announces Tax Declaration Period and Income Tax Rates
The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) in Haiti has announced that the period for filing final income tax returns will be from October 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. This notice specifically targets civil servants, private-sector employees, and Haitian personnel working for international organizations who are subject to income tax.
To ensure a smooth filing process, the DGI urges taxpayers to submit their final returns for the 2025–2026 fiscal year at one of its offices. Private-sector employees and those working for international or non-governmental organizations should file at the tax office that manages their institution’s tax records. Civil servants are instructed to use the tax office closest to their location.
In its announcement, the DGI reminded taxpayers that the income tax scale that was in effect prior to the adoption of the new Tax Code will still apply to income earned during the 2025–2026 fiscal year. This respects the legal principle that prohibits retroactive application of laws.
For the 2025-2026 fiscal year, the income tax rates are as follows:
- Income from 1.00 to 60,000 Gourdes: 0%
- Income from 60,001 to 240,000 Gourdes: 10%
- Income from 240,001 to 480,000 Gourdes: 15%
- Income from 480,001 to 1,000,000 Gourdes: 25%
- Income above 1,000,000 Gourdes: 30%
The DGI encourages all taxpayers to meet their tax obligations within the designated timeframe to avoid any penalties outlined by existing legislation.
