Defense ministers from France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom are scheduled to convene in Paris on Monday to discuss support for Ukraine, European defense initiatives, and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The French Defense Ministry indicated that the primary focus of the talks will be on enhancing military assistance to Ukraine.
Representatives from NATO and the European Union are expected to participate in parts of the meeting, while Ukraine’s Defense Minister will join via video link.
In addition to assessing the current military situation, the ministers will explore long-term strategies to support Ukraine as it continues to resist Russia’s invasion.
During their last gathering in Berlin in June, the E5 nations committed to maintaining robust support for Ukraine, aiming to convey a strong message of solidarity with Kyiv amid ongoing hostilities.
The meeting will also address how Europe can bolster its role within NATO. The discussions from June emphasized reinforcing the European pillar of the alliance, including commitments to increase defense spending to promote a balanced trans-Atlantic partnership.
