Miranda Lambert shared her approach to songwriting, emphasizing a relaxed atmosphere as key to her creative process. “A guitar on the porch and some beers, that’s my favorite way to write,” the country artist explained. She believes that a structured schedule, such as “let’s write from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then I’ve got to pick up my kids,” hampers her ability to get into a productive mindset.
One of these laid-back writing sessions resulted in the song “Choosin’ Texas,” which she co-wrote and co-produced for fellow artist Ella Langley. “Choosin’ Texas” has recently made headlines for setting a record by spending 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart.
Lambert’s songwriting style has not only benefited her collaborators but also influenced her own work. Her new album, “Crisco,” draws inspiration from the groovy country sounds of the late 1970s and 1980s. “It’s something that I’ve always loved in the genre that I’ve never explored,” Lambert noted, indicating her intent to delve into these influences more deeply.
