CBS Sports has announced that J.J. Watt will be the network’s new lead NFL game analyst, as confirmed on Thursday. Watt will join Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson in the broadcast booth, including for next season’s Super Bowl. This promotion comes with a multi-year deal for Watt, although CBS Sports has not disclosed financial details.
In a statement regarding his new role, Watt expressed his gratitude and excitement: “I am incredibly honored and grateful to have the opportunity to represent CBS Sports and all of the fantastic people who make this place so special,” he said. “From the brotherhood of THE NFL TODAY to my crews calling games, I couldn’t ask for better teammates alongside me on this television journey. I am thankful to David Berson for his leadership, vision, and trust. I love this job and can’t wait to see ya Sunday with Jim and Tracy and many more Sundays to come!”
This development follows the departure of former lead NFL analyst Tony Romo, who parted ways with CBS Sports after being arrested in July on suspicion of operating while intoxicated.
Watt will debut in his new position during a notable AFC North matchup this week between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens.
