Teton Gravity Research (TGR) is set to premiere its latest film, “Actually, It Is Rocket Science,” on October 8, 2026, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The event will begin at 7:30 PM.
This film continues TGR’s exploration of skiing through various landscapes, showcasing the talents of top skiers as they treat the mountains as laboratories and each descent as an experiment. The production includes footage from locations such as Bute Inlet, British Columbia; Haines, Alaska; and Jay Peak, Vermont.
In “Actually, It Is Rocket Science,” athletes delve into the complexities of skiing steep lines and navigating challenging conditions. The film humorously examines the seemingly reckless behavior displayed by elite snow athletes as they challenge the laws of physics, focusing on critical elements like speed, gravity, and instinct.
TGR describes the film as a light-hearted inquiry into whether the feats performed by these athletes can indeed be deemed “rocket science.” It highlights the combination of advanced techniques and the natural forces at play during their exhilarating descents.
The Palace of Fine Arts is located at 3301 Lyon Street, San Francisco, CA 94123. Tickets and additional information about the premiere can be accessed through Teton Gravity Research’s official channels.
