As 2026 approaches, some bath towels stand out for their high quality and performance. Among these, terry towels, which feature loops of yarn on both sides, are noted for their ability to absorb moisture without feeling overly wet. While they retain heat well, they may take longer to dry compared to other types like waffle towels.
Top Picks for Bath Towels in 2026
The Frontgate Resort Collection Bath Towel is highlighted as a top recommendation due to its plush, thick design. Testers have noted it as the softest and most luxurious towel, built from smooth, long-staple cotton. This towel quickly absorbs water and maintains warmth, even when damp. Despite its richness, it air-dries faster than several thinner options, taking only a day in cold, wet conditions.
Users also appreciate the wide color selection, with about two dozen options available. This range also extends to bath sheets, hand towels, and washcloths, which offer slightly different textures but maintain high absorbency. Customer reviews consistently praise the Frontgate towels for their durability, having held up well over nearly a decade, despite some fading.
Another strong contender is the Target Threshold Spa Plush Bath Towel, recognized for providing luxury at a more accessible price. Priced under $20, testers describe it as feeling plush while still managing quick drying times. This towel is noted for its neat stitching and overall reliability over multiple washes.
For those seeking a towel with more texture, the Riley Spa Bath Towel offers defined terry loops that are tactile yet less bulky than the Frontgate option. This towel is compact and dries significantly faster, making it a great choice during humid conditions. It features a modern design with rounded edges and a hanging loop, and it comes in various sizes.
While each towel has its strengths, potential buyers should consider the price variations and color availability, especially after sales, which can lead to some styles being temporarily out of stock. These towels collectively combine style, function, and comfort, making each a worthy addition to any bathroom collection.
