Sunderland has received positive news regarding striker Wilson Isidor, who recently completed a successful training camp with the Haiti national team, leading to their advancement in the Concacaf Nations League quarter-finals.
Isidor played a pivotal role throughout the tournament, participating in all four of Haiti’s matches and accumulating approximately 341 minutes on the field. He scored three goals and provided two assists during this period. His notable performance began with Haiti’s match against Trinidad and Tobago, where he played the full 90 minutes, assisted in scoring the first two goals, and netted the decisive 98th-minute winner in a thrilling 3-2 finish.
In his next outing, Isidor again completed a full match as Haiti defeated Costa Rica 2-0. His most impressive showing came during a dominant 4-1 win over the Dominican Republic, where he scored twice after initially having a penalty saved. He was substituted after 72 minutes, which led to some concern about an injury, although no formal diagnosis had been issued at that time.
Despite these worries, Isidor returned to the field for Haiti’s final Group A match against Costa Rica, starting and playing 89 minutes before being replaced late in the game. Haiti finished second in Group A, securing a spot in the knockout stage despite the 2-0 defeat.
Isidor now heads back to Sunderland, where he is expected to join the squad ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash with Brighton. Manager Régis Le Bris is already navigating injury concerns with fellow striker Brian Brobbey, highlighting the importance of Isidor’s fitness as they approach the match.
