Eminem and Kid Rock have collaborated on a new track titled “7 Sins,” emphasizing the importance of political unity despite their differing views. The song will be featured on Rock’s upcoming Christian album, Halfway to Jesus, and is intended to illustrate how connections can endure across ideological divides.
Rock revealed Eminem’s participation in the song on October 1, surprising fans and prompting some skepticism about the collaboration. However, a representative for Eminem confirmed the track’s existence to Complex.
In the album’s foreword, Rock expressed pride in reuniting with Eminem, stating, “I’m proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem.” He explained that the song reflects their conversations about maintaining their friendship in light of their political differences. “We differ politically and on other things, but we’ve stayed friends through it all,” Rock said. He hopes their friendship serves as a model for others who may have lost connections over political disagreements.
The partnership between the two artists dates back to 1998, when Eminem featured on Rock’s song “F— Off,” which appeared on Rock’s album Devil Without a Cause. Eminem later made a cameo in Rock’s “Berzerk” music video in 2013, and both appeared on Trick Trick’s remix of “From tha D.” Despite their contrasting political perspectives, which have included Rock’s support for Donald Trump and Eminem’s vocal criticism of the former president, their friendship has persisted.
In 2024, Rock acknowledged Eminem for his willingness to express his beliefs, stating on social media, “I don’t agree with his politics, but I do give credit to him.” Eminem reciprocated with a comment reflecting their shared Detroit roots.
Halfway to Jesus marks Rock’s first Christian album and features other artists like Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts and Jimmie Allen. The album’s first single, “James 1:17 (Jesus Is King),” was also released on October 1, with the full album set for release on October 17, coinciding with Eminem’s birthday.
