Soltour has convened over 100 travel agents from Spain and Portugal in the Dominican Republic for a week-long professional training event tailored to enhance their destination knowledge amidst growing demand for customized travel experiences.
This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Mitur) and Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts (BPHR), focused on immersing travel professionals in various aspects of the country’s tourism offerings. Participants explored areas linked to nature, culture, gastronomy, wellness, and experiential tourism.
Agents visited diverse locations, including Samaná, where they engaged with local cultural projects and natural attractions, and Punta Cana and Playa Nueva Romana, which showcased alternatives to traditional sun-and-beach travel options.
Mateo Ramón, CEO of Soltour, emphasized the importance of empowering travel agencies. “At Soltour, we understand that our growth in the channel depends on providing agencies with a real competitive advantage. This large operation in the Dominican Republic represents a direct investment in the professionalization and leadership of our business partners in the face of a market saturated with information,” he stated.
During the trip, participants gained insights into the latest offerings and renovations at Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, which positions Soltour as the exclusive operator of these hotels in Spain and Portugal. The initiative aims to present a more comprehensive view of the Dominican Republic that extends beyond typical sun-and-beach options to encompass nature, gastronomy, heritage, entertainment, wellness, and golf.
Soltour noted that allowing travel agents direct experience in the destination will enhance their ability to recommend tailored options for travelers, thereby solidifying their role as specialized advisors during the booking process.
This event underscores Soltour’s commitment to supporting travel agencies as essential partners in tourism distribution. The company plans to continue fostering alliances and specialized training programs designed to connect professionals with destinations directly involved in travelers’ choices.
