Crane NXT has appointed Jeong H. Kim as a new member of its board of directors, effective October 29, 2026. Kim brings extensive experience in technology and engineering, including his previous role as president of Bell Labs, making him the first leader recruited from outside the organization in its over 80-year history.
Kim currently serves as the executive chairman and co-founder of Kiswe Mobile, a company known for developing interactive and personalized video technologies. His broad background encompasses communications, engineering, technology development, and international business, aligning with Crane NXT’s focus on authentication and product traceability.
Crane NXT Chairman John S. Stroup emphasized Kim’s global reputation and successful track record in bringing advanced technologies to market. Stroup noted that Kim’s combination of technical and commercial experience will enhance the board’s perspective as the company aims to strengthen its market position and expand its technology portfolio.
Crane NXT operates through two primary segments: Security & Authentication Technologies and Detection & Traceability Technologies. The company designs products intended to combat counterfeiting, authenticate identities, and enhance the quality and traceability of goods in global supply chains.
As companies strive to verify their physical and digital assets amid increasingly complex supply chains, Crane NXT’s capabilities become crucial. Beyond his operational expertise, Kim has experience serving on various boards, including Samsung Electronics. He is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering and has received multiple prestigious awards, including the National Medal of Technology and Innovation and France’s Legion of Honor.
Kim holds a Ph.D. in reliability engineering from the University of Maryland, in addition to a master’s degree in technical management and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Johns Hopkins University.
