The Maricopa County Community College District will introduce two new bachelor’s degree programs for the upcoming academic year. Students can now pursue a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science at Mesa Community College and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Law and Legal Studies at Rio Salado College.
This expansion follows a 2018 law signed by former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, which allowed community colleges in Arizona to offer four-year degrees. Currently, the Maricopa County Community Colleges district offers a total of 11 bachelor’s degrees, including programs in public safety administration and information technology.
The community college district highlighted that its bachelor’s degree programs are significantly more affordable, costing a quarter of the tuition compared to public in-state universities. This offers a cost-effective option for students seeking to earn a bachelor’s degree in Arizona.
The new programs aim to provide additional educational and career opportunities for local students, aligning with the district’s commitment to enhancing workforce development in the region.
As the school year approaches, prospective students can look forward to enrolling in these new programs and benefiting from the competitive education offered by the Maricopa County Community Colleges.
