República Dominicana will host the PGA Tour Américas final for the first time at PGA Ocean’s 4 in Playa Nueva Romana. The tournament, known as the Dominican Republic Tour Championship presented by Scotiabank, will take place from October 15 to 18, 2026. This event will feature the top 60 players from the circuit competing in four rounds without a cut, with ten spots available for the Korn Ferry Tour 2027.
This collaboration between Piñero’s Real Estate & Golf division and the PGA Tour connects PGA Ocean’s 4 with PGA Riviera Maya in Tulum Country Club. Players will not only compete for positions but also for 600 points and a prize purse of $225,000.
Final Tournament with Opportunities for All
The champion of the tournament will earn 600 points, which is 100 points more than a regular tournament. Additionally, the top ten players from the PGA Tour Américas Points List will receive an exemption to the Final Stage of the PGA Tour Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.
Cam Crawford, Chief Referee of the PGA Tour, emphasized that every player has a chance, stating, “Even the player ranked 60 can win and make it into the top 10. Each round will have direct consequences for their journey to the Korn Ferry Tour, all at PGA Ocean’s 4, which is in excellent condition for hosting this event.”
Strategic Vision for Golf in the Region
During a press conference, Gonzalo Pan de Soraluce, Global Director of Golf for Piñero’s Real Estate & Golf division, stated that the PGA Tour Américas final reflects a long-term vision for golf in the region. He mentioned that bringing the event to the Dominican Republic offers a unique opportunity to showcase PGA Ocean’s 4 to the world while boosting sports tourism that attracts investment and nurtures talent.
“Our alliance with the PGA Tour connects this course with PGA Riviera Maya, creating a competitive route that involves two countries and two courses,” Pan de Soraluce added.
Latin American Representation at the PGA Tour Américas
Among the players highlighted in the conference was 23-year-old Mexican golfer Omar Morales, who expressed confidence in the course conditions, especially for the four oceanfront holes. He stated, “I’m sure it will be an incredible experience.”
Argentinian Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, currently ranked 16th in the Points List, also attended. After winning the Commissionaires Ottawa Open in July, he is hopeful about entering the top ten. Fernández commented on the unique challenges of the course, describing it as different from what they have experienced throughout the year.
Support for Sports Tourism
Claudia Cueli, Vice President of Commercial and Corporate Banking at Scotiabank Dominican Republic, highlighted the importance of their sponsorship. She said, “Supporting this competition reflects our confidence in the potential of the Dominican Republic and initiatives that generate new opportunities for the country.”
Jean Carlos Navarro from the Ministry of Tourism thanked Piñero and PGA Ocean’s 4 for their commitment to sports tourism and expressed the goal of positioning the Dominican Republic as a hub for sports tourism in the Caribbean.
PGA Ocean’s 4: A Prime Location
PGA Ocean’s 4 is fully prepared for the final, having undergone renovations to its bunkers and tees through a redesign project led by Robert Trent Jones II. The course has been recognized as the Best Golf Course in the Dominican Republic by the World Golf Awards and features a layout that includes parkland, desert, links, and oceanside terrains.
The tournament will take place from October 15 to 18. Detailed information about tickets can be found on the course’s website, while live results and player lists will be available on the official PGA Tour Américas portal.
