The Denver Broncos secured a thrilling 17-14 overtime victory against the Seattle Seahawks at Mile High Stadium on Thursday night. Will Lutz clinched the win by converting a 53-yard field goal, improving Denver’s record to 4-2, while Seattle fell to 3-3.
The Seahawks initially took the lead with a field goal by Jason Myers in the first quarter. However, the Broncos responded with two touchdowns in the second quarter. JK Dobbins scored on a four-yard run, and RJ Harvey added another touchdown with a one-yard rush. Despite these scores, the Broncos struggled offensively, accumulating only 168 total yards compared to Seattle’s 353.
Denver’s defense played a pivotal role in the game, registering five sacks and two interceptions against Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold. Darnold, who completed 27 of 51 passes for 278 yards, managed to rally Seattle late in the game, throwing a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter and converting a two-point attempt to Rashid Shaheed, narrowing the gap to three points.
Following an impressive kickoff return by Shaheed that gave Seattle favorable field position, Myers successfully converted a 34-yard field goal to tie the game and send it into overtime.
In the extra period, the Broncos intercepted Darnold on their first possession, when cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian made a crucial play. This turnover set up Lutz for the game-winning field goal.
