The Florida Panthers defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 on Sunday, fueled by a critical goal from former Montreal Canadiens forward Lars Eller. With just 23 seconds remaining in the third period, Eller netted his first goal with the Panthers, securing the game-winning score and giving his team a much-needed two points.
Eller’s moment came with a well-executed wrist shot that beat Blackhawks goalie Spencer Knight, showcasing his offensive skills in a tense situation. This goal adds to Eller’s performance this season, where he has recorded six points in 12 games so far. Last season, he played 68 games with the Ottawa Senators, tallying five goals and 15 points.
The Panthers signed Eller this offseason to a one-year, $850,000 contract, and early indications suggest that the move is paying off. As he settles into his role with Florida, Eller aims to maintain this level of play moving forward.
During his six-season tenure with the Canadiens from 2010 to 2016, Eller compiled 71 goals, 83 assists, and 154 points. His experience and skill continue to serve him well as he contributes to the Panthers’ success this season.
Looking ahead, the Panthers will be counting on Eller and their other players to keep building momentum in the coming games.
