The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the IP Africa Conference and Exhibition from December 7 to 9, 2026. The event will be held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia, a historically significant location where the ARIPO agreement was signed in 1976.
Co-hosted by ARIPO, the Government of Zambia, and the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA), the conference will gather representatives from IP offices, governments, and practitioners across the continent. Themed “Fostering Innovation and Creativity for a Sustainable Future for Africa,” the three-day program will include strategic discussions, regional updates, expert perspectives, and opportunities for networking. The event will conclude with a commemorative gala dinner.
Nicolette Biggar, Attorney at Law, will represent Inventa and speak on December 8 during the panel discussion titled “Enhancing Trademark and Brand Protection in Africa: Enabling Inclusive Growth and Global Competitiveness.” Biggar expressed her eagerness to engage in dialogue on intellectual property matters and reconnect with existing contacts while forging new relationships within the African IP community.
