The University of Toledo’s College of Engineering will play a pivotal role in the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) on November 3, showcasing its programs and research in the rapidly evolving mobility sector.
The summit, the first of its kind in North America, will include industry tours followed by a conference and innovation expo at the Glass City Center on November 4 and 5. Attendees can expect to engage with topics such as electric vehicles, alternative fuels, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems.
UToledo will highlight its initiatives from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on November 3, featuring student and faculty engagement in cutting-edge technologies. Among the highlights is the newly established Electric Vehicle Club, which invites students to design and build projects focused on electric mobility. The university will also showcase Rocket Motorsports, a student organization that constructs a Formula One-style racecar each year for competition at the Michigan International Speedway.
“The University of Toledo College of Engineering is preparing students for high-impact careers in the mobility sector while supporting its rapidly evolving workforce,” said Dr. Mohammad Elahinia, dean of the College of Engineering. “EVIS America is a valuable opportunity for our students to engage in industry innovation while celebrating our own leadership in research and experience-based educational opportunities.”
Building on the foundation set by five editions of the summit held in Abu Dhabi, EVIS America aims to leverage the region’s rich automotive manufacturing legacy and expanding role in the future of transportation. UToledo, recognized as the only R1 University in Northwest Ohio, facilitates collaboration among industry, faculty, and students to address challenges and spur innovation.
As part of the programming, the summit will also feature conference sessions and panels, allowing attendees to connect with organizations across the industry and explore emerging solutions. Tickets are available through the EVIS America website, and UToledo students, faculty, and staff can use the code UTOL100 for a $200 full conference rate.
