The World Wide Technology Championship is taking place this week at El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos, Mexico. This year marks the fourth consecutive time the event has been hosted at this venue since its relocation from Mayakoba in 2023. The tournament features a field of 120 golfers competing for a total purse of $6 million. Notably, Ryan Gerard, ranked 23rd in the world, is the only player among the top 25 participating in the event. Ben Griffin, the reigning champion, will defend his title after setting a tournament record of -29 last year.
The Course: El Cardonal, designed by Tiger Woods, opened in 2014 and is characterized by its routing through sand dunes and arroyos along the Pacific coastline of Cabo San Lucas. The course is set at a par 72, spanning 7,452 yards, consistent with its length over the past three years. The layout includes four par 5s, four par 3s, and 10 par 4s, with six of the par 4s stretching 462 yards or longer.
