The session aimed to review ongoing strategic projects and discuss their implementation, particularly with support from Canada’s Agency for Support to Professional and Inclusive Policing. Among the key topics was the modernization of the PNH Inspector General’s office. Discussions focused on plans for a new building that meets the institution’s needs, alongside the printing of hundreds of ethics booklets for police officers to enhance professional ethics and discipline.
Additional major projects highlighted during the meeting included the construction of a new PNH Headquarters, the establishment of a trauma center specifically for police personnel, and the creation of a pension fund for the families of officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Ambassador Côté emphasized the importance of a structured and pragmatic approach, recommending a thorough review of existing projects to ensure their completion before new initiatives are introduced. He reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to supporting the PNH in achieving its mission amid ongoing challenges.
During the meeting, Côté praised the courage and resilience of the PNH leadership, acknowledging the determination of security forces to maintain state functions despite a difficult security landscape.
In response, Paraison expressed his appreciation for the Canadian government’s support and assured the ambassador of the High Command’s willingness to collaborate in the execution of these essential projects aimed at strengthening the PNH and enhancing national security.
