The Philadelphia Eagles have made four roster transactions as part of their preparations this week, according to the NFL’s official personnel notice released on October 6.
-
Tank Bigsby, running back, has been placed on injured reserve.
-
Anfernee Orji, linebacker, has been released from the practice squad.
-
Chance Campbell, linebacker, has been released from the practice squad injured list following an injury settlement.
-
James Brockermeyer, center, attended a free agent visit with the Eagles.
Bigsby’s move to injured reserve comes after he underwent core muscle surgery, which will sideline him for at least four games. He was expected to play a significant role while Saquon Barkley recovers from a hamstring injury. The games Bigsby will miss are:
- Week 5 at Jacksonville Jaguars
- Week 6 vs. Carolina Panthers
- Week 7 vs. Dallas Cowboys
- Week 8 at Washington Commanders
Reports indicate Bigsby might return in around six weeks, but his exact timeline remains uncertain. With both Barkley and Bigsby out, the Eagles currently have Will Shipley as their sole active running back, while Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele, and Jaydon Blue are on the practice squad, with Pierce likely to be first in line for elevation.
Orji, who was signed to the practice squad just five days earlier, was released, possibly indicating that fellow linebacker Zack Baun may soon be cleared to return from a concussion.
Campbell’s recent exit from the practice squad comes after he was previously elevated for Week 3, though the specifics of his injury are not clear.
Brockermeyer, who has played primarily as a center in college, is expected to join the practice squad. The Eagles are bolstering their offensive line depth amid concerns that Cam Jurgens may miss the upcoming game due to a concussion.
Brockermeyer signed with the Atlanta Falcons after the 2027 NFL Draft but was waived in late August after a brief stint on their practice squad. His college performance indicates strong potential, though he will need to compete vigorously for a roster spot with the Eagles.
The Eagles are expected to announce additional roster moves ahead of their first practice on Wednesday, as they gear up for Sunday’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
