Fourth graders at Wheeler County Elementary School have been immersing themselves in the wonders of space as part of their science curriculum this fall. Under the guidance of Mrs. Bridges, students participated in a series of hands-on activities designed to enhance their understanding of the universe.
During their study unit, the fourth graders created projects on the Solar System, showcased the phases of the Moon using Oreo cookies, and engaged in lessons about various types of space technology, including telescopes, space probes, and observatories.
The students also learned how Earth’s movements influence everyday life. They discovered that Earth’s orbit around the Sun and its tilted axis result in the changing seasons, while its rotation is responsible for day and night cycles.
Through these engaging lessons and creative projects, the students are cultivating their scientific knowledge and exploring the mysteries of space. As the school year progresses, Mrs. Bridges and her class anticipate more discoveries and learning experiences in their fourth-grade science journey.
