Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) has garnered national recognition for its innovative practices, winning two awards from StateWays magazine. The department is being honored for its advancements in technology and commitments to promoting responsible alcohol sales.
ABS received the “Best Technology Innovation” award for implementing a digitized receiving and invoice automation system. This initiative significantly reduces paperwork, enhances financial oversight, and helps mitigate errors and fraud within the department.
In addition, ABS was awarded for its “Best Trade/Licensee Education Program,” acknowledged specifically for its Good Neighbor program. This initiative highlights businesses that successfully comply with regulations by refusing to sell or serve alcohol to individuals under the age of 21. Those businesses that do not meet compliance standards are offered additional training to improve their practices.
The awards will be officially presented on Tuesday, October 20, at the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association’s Administrators Conference.
