The 71st Annual Turkey Trot, also known as “Too Hot to Trot,” will take place on Thursday, November 19th, at 4:20 PM on the Lehigh University campus, starting in front of Packer Chapel. This event marks the traditional kickoff for the campus community ahead of the 162nd Lehigh/Lafayette football game, a storied rivalry in college sports.
The Turkey Trot features a 2.5-mile race that begins at the ASA Packer Campus and includes a scenic route that ascends “The Hill,” offering participants views of the upper campus and Bethlehem from the “Lookout,” a favored spot for photographers. This annual run not only promotes fitness but also provides a chance for participants to discover parts of the campus they may not typically explore.
For those preferring a less strenuous option, the Too Hot to Trot presents a 1.0-mile course, designed for slower walkers and participants to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the lower Asa Packer Campus. This segment will be led by the Lehigh Labs this year.
Registration for the Turkey Trot is open until Sunday, November 15th, at 11 PM. Participants can sign up using their LEHIGH.edu email address at www.IMLeagues.com/lehigh. Race numbers can be collected at the Taylor Gym office from Monday, November 16th, through Wednesday, November 18th, between 10 AM and 7 PM. No race numbers will be available for pickup on the day of the event, and participants must display their numbers visibly on the front of their clothing. The first 500 finishers will receive a commemorative Turkey Trot gift.
This event is open exclusively to currently employed full-time faculty, staff, and students of Lehigh University, all of whom must present a valid Lehigh ID card. Participation is not permitted for retirees, spouses, or dependents.
