MOSCOW, Oct 4 (Reuters) – The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian forces struck the Northern bridge over the Dnipro River in Kyiv on Sunday, targeting a route known for transporting troops and military supplies.
The ministry stated that two dry cargo vessels, which were reportedly loaded with military equipment and heading to the port of Odesa, were also attacked in the northwestern Black Sea.
Earlier, the ministry indicated that Russian forces had targeted a dry cargo vessel east of Odesa overnight, as well as a logistics center operated by Nova Poshta in Chornomorsk, and a data center in Odesa.
Following an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in which he mentioned plans for increased strikes on Russian oil refineries, Russian officials vowed to escalate their attacks on Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry additionally claimed that air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 559 Ukrainian drones from Saturday evening until Sunday morning over various regions in Russia and above the Azov and Black seas.
Claims from both sides regarding military operations have not been independently verified.
