The United States men’s national soccer team (USMNT) will play Haiti in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Nations League in November. Both teams are participants in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following its performance in the July 2026 Concacaf rankings, the USMNT secured its spot by finishing second, thus earning the opportunity to face the highest-placed runner-up from the two Nations League A groups. Haiti had initially won its first three matches but finished second in Group A after a 2-0 defeat to Costa Rica on October 4, solidifying its place to meet the U.S.
This two-legged series for the quarterfinals will not only determine who advances to the semifinals but will also set the teams’ paths to the Gold Cup. The winner will automatically qualify for the tournament in summer 2027, while the losing team will need to compete in a two-legged qualifying series in March 2027.
The USMNT has participated in every Gold Cup since its inception in 1991, usually without needing to qualify. Haiti has also been a regular presence, qualifying for 10 out of the Gold Cups, including the last four tournaments.
In preparation for the match against Haiti, Haiti has changed its coaching staff, moving on from manager Sebastien Migne after failing to progress to the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup. David Badia from Spain has been appointed as the new coach.
As for the U.S. team, it recently used the September and October international windows for friendlies, achieving victories against Peru and Chile, and they are set to play another friendly against Canada on October 6.
Haiti has not been able to play home matches since 2021 due to a political crisis and gang violence, opting instead for neutral locations in the Caribbean for its games. Previous home games included matches held in Curacao during its World Cup qualification campaign and in Kingston, Jamaica.
No information was immediately available regarding where Haiti will host the match against the U.S. The USMNT is scheduled to play the second leg of this international series in Cincinnati on November 17.
