First United Methodist Church in Van Wert is organizing its annual meal packing event on Saturday, November 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Van Wert High School, located at 10708 state Route 118. This year, the church plans to prepare meals containing rice, vegetables, proteins, and 21 essential vitamins for over 500 schools and orphanages in Haiti.
The event welcomes participants of all ages, and the church will provide proof of participation for students needing volunteer hours. A suggested donation of $20 per person or $50 per family is requested to help cover ingredient and shipping costs.
Local businesses are invited to sponsor employee groups for the packing event. Those interested in signing up can visit vanwertfirst.net and select the Rice Meal Pack option.
