The World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, hosted a sold-out crowd for the NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals on Saturday, marking the event’s sixth consecutive Saturday sellout. This achievement represents the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) 11th sellout of the 2026 season and its third consecutive Saturday sellout during the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship.
“Today’s sold-out crowd at the NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals is another tremendous showcase of the passion and enthusiasm St. Louis fans have for NHRA drag racing,” said NHRA President Glen Cromwell. He praised the efforts of the team at World Wide Technology Raceway for providing an exceptional racing experience, emphasizing the excitement of having another packed house during the NHRA’s 75th anniversary season.
The NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals is a key event in the NHRA playoff series, marking the midpoint of the six-race Countdown playoffs. The crowded venue witnessed two qualifying sessions featuring top competitors from categories including Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle. The performances during these sessions carry significant implications for championship standings, with each qualifying position and championship bonus point becoming increasingly critical.
The weekend racing action is set to continue on Sunday, with final eliminations scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT.
