Kazakhstan has officially endorsed the US-led Kyoto Vision initiative at the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum held in Kyoto, Japan. The announcement came from the White House, where Michael Kratsios, the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, led the initiative aimed at enhancing science ecosystems and expediting scientific discovery.
The Kyoto Vision emphasizes the role of super intelligence (SI) in revolutionizing scientific research through autonomous experimentation and advanced analytical methods. Participants in the forum called for developing new institutional frameworks and funding mechanisms to provide scientists with better opportunities for pursuing ambitious research projects.
“Super intelligence applied to science will be the greatest force in history for democratizing research,” Kratsios stated. He noted that the United States is taking significant steps to adapt its research institutions to the changing dynamics of the scientific landscape.
The declaration outlines three primary focus areas: improving the institutions of discovery by implementing long-term awards, rapid grants, and research prizes; utilizing super intelligence within scientific research by expanding access to SI tools, scientific data, computing infrastructure, and experimental facilities; and fostering scientific talent, particularly by supporting students and early-career researchers through training, fellowships, and research partnerships.
In July 2026, Kratsios presented a report titled Science: A New Golden Age to President Donald Trump, detailing new directions for the US research and development system, including strategies for federal agencies in conducting, funding, and assessing scientific research.
The Kyoto Vision has received endorsements from multiple countries, including Argentina, Bulgaria, Chile, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, New Zealand, Poland, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
This initiative follows President Trump’s earlier announcement regarding the establishment of the Super Intelligence Force (SIF), which aims to coordinate federal efforts in artificial intelligence and maintain the US position as a leader in the field.
