Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Alaric Jackson has been suspended for two games without pay following an incident in which he punched Buffalo Bills edge rusher Bradley Chubb after their game on Monday Night Football. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the suspension was confirmed by a league source.
The altercation occurred after the Rams’ 22-19 loss to the Bills, which left Los Angeles with a 2-3 record for the season. As players mingled on the field for jersey exchanges and interviews, Jackson approached Chubb and, after a brief exchange, struck him in the head. Teammates quickly intervened to separate the two players.
Video footage of the incident was circulated on social media, further attracting scrutiny towards Jackson’s conduct. The decision to suspend him for two games aligns with the NFL’s policy on unsportsmanlike behavior. The Rams will face the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders in Weeks 6 and 7, respectively, without their starting left tackle.
In Jackson’s absence, veteran tackle David Quessenberry is expected to step in. His extensive experience in the NFL could provide some stability to the Rams’ offensive line during this period. The Rams have not indicated whether they plan to appeal Jackson’s suspension, but given the nature of the incident and its public visibility, it appears unlikely that the penalty will be overturned.
As the Rams prepare for the upcoming games, the team is focused on maintaining their performance amid the disruption caused by Jackson’s suspension.
