Dominican Republic Extends Deadline for Energy Storage Investment Proposals
Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica Dominicana, S.A. (ETED) has extended the deadline for submitting proposals under its private investment initiative focused on battery energy storage systems (BESS) to November 30, 2026. This extension is intended to enhance the stability and responsiveness of the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI).
The extension allows authorized investors additional time to present their technical and financial proposals, following the guidelines provided to registered bidders. According to ETED, this change applies equally to all eligible participants and does not alter any other terms and conditions of the bidding process, which is conducted in a competitive and non-discriminatory manner in line with the General Electricity Law No. 125-01 and its amendments.
Alfonso Rodríguez Tejada, executive vice president of ETED, emphasized that the decision reflects a commitment to quality and transparency in the proposal process. “We want each proposal to meet the technical and financial rigor required by infrastructure of this importance for the power system. Extending the deadline is a commitment to quality and to the transparency of the process,” he stated.
This initiative is part of ETED’s broader effort to enhance the flexibility and resilience of the transmission network, improve supply security, and support the energy and digital transition in the Dominican Republic.
