AiFi has launched a checkout-free store at the RV@Olympic campsite in Port Angeles, Washington, becoming the first fully autonomous campground store in the United States.
In a LinkedIn announcement, AiFi highlighted the store’s convenience for guests, particularly those arriving late at night who need supplies for early morning activities. “It’s 9 PM near Olympic National Park and you’ve just realised you’re out of snacks for tomorrow’s 6am hike. Most campground stores closed hours ago. At RV@Olympic, guests can still walk over and get some,” the company stated.
Visitors can enter the store, select their items, and leave without any staff present. AiFi’s spatial intelligence platform processes transactions in real time, eliminating the need for a checkout register during the overnight hours.
According to AiFi, over half of the store’s revenue—56.6%—is generated outside traditional operating hours. The company pointed out that closing a campground store at 5 PM often leaves late arrivals without access to necessary supplies.
